A small job that turned into a complete overhaul! This 12 year old XYZ 1060HS VMC had ground to a halt with multiple X axis drive alarms. We initially lent our customer a LT module and regulator card to fit themselves as this was believed to be source of faults. After fitting, our customer requested we attend site as although the new hardware had made a difference, there were still issues with the machine.
On attending site, we found the X axis servo motor to have failed, all windings were down to ground, the power cable was also showing excessively low resistance and needed changing. We also found that the X axis ballscrew and bearings were in a very poor state and after consulting with our customer, the decision was made to replace / repair everything that was causing an issue.
So we supplied and fitted new 2x50A LT module and reg card, new motor power cable, overhaul / rebuild of servo motor, overhaul of ballscrew and replacement bearings. Machine was was fully setup and function tested, a very happy customer and machine running back up to full capacity.
